Pulmonary hypertension is a fairly rare disease. Although not currently curable, pulmonary hypertension treatment exists that can relieve many of your symptoms and make you more comfortable.

PH affects the heart and lungs and is not a very common disorder. This disease occurs when blood vessels between the heart and lungs are constricted or blocked. The result is a spike in your pressure as your heart pumps harder to get blood through. The huge strain on the heart makes it become enlarged and cannot work efficiently or effectively. This usually brings on heart failure.

Many types of medication exist to treat this illness. When there is a fair amount of excess fluid in the tissue, it swells, making breathing strenuous. Diuretics are available to prevent this water retention. Anticoagulants prevent blood clots from forming so your blood is pumped efficiently. To lower your blood pressure and ease your heart's work, you will likely be put on a vasodilator.

Pulmonary hypertension can also be helped by surgical procedures. Some cases are brought on by a clot in the pulmonary arteries. In that situation, the blockage can be surgically removed and your health will improve. If your illness progresses into both lung and heart failure, the prognosis is not good. If caught in time and the appropriate pulmonary hypertension treatment administered, it is unlikely this will happen, however.

A lung transplant is the only way to fully get rid of pulmonary hypertension. It is a complicated situation, though. It is hard to find a matching donor, and the waiting list is long as it is with most organs. This procedure is only a last resort for those who were completely resistant to other medical therapies. If the operation is a success, your heart will revert back to its normal state. All of your symptoms should also subside. A successful transplant can save your life.

There are several lifestyle changes you can make to keep your symptoms under control. Try to reduce stress by relaxing so your blood pressure won't spike. Don't smoke unless you want to make things a lot worse. Keep your salt intake fairly low and stay on a fresher diet without so many processed foods. Moderate exercise is helpful but should be undertaken only under the advice of a doctor.

Pulmonary hypertension is a serious disorder that can defeat you emotionally as well. Don't let this disorder keep you from living your life since pulmonary hypertension treatment can be very effective. Talk with your doctor and work out the course of treatment that fits your situation. The sooner you can begin treatment, the better your chances of improving your quality of life.

When looking at hypertension prevention, there are many things you are able to do to help prevent this condition in the first place. When regarding the matters you can do to help yourself stay healthy don't forget that for certain individuals these are very necessary changes because there are some people that are more prone to developing high blood pressure than others.

The high blood pressure in the family as well as race and maturity are all elements that add to this condition. Nonetheless, certain alterations in living will assist to avoid hypertension and something you can do is keep from becoming overweight. Physical exercise of some form is advocated and if you are unable to walk even small distances owing to your legs, or have problems with respiration when walking, swimming is a very good exercise.

Reduce your sodium intake by adhering to the instructions on labels because they will tell you the salt content of nearly everything you consume and the less salt you take in the healthier you will be - but lessening your alcohol intake will help as well. The occasional party is not likely to harm if you have two or three drinks, but as an daily situation, this is not recommended. Ensure you have potassium in your food on a day-to-day basis as the suggested amount is 3500 mg. per day.

More tips for hypertension prevention are to look at what you consume. There ought to be fruits, vegetables and dairy products which are low-fat but concentrated fats should be in only small measures. Hypertension causes troubles with the heart and other organs such as: the kidneys if left untreated for too long. Since high blood pressure is acknowledged as the 'silent killer' because of the lack of symptoms, by doing everything you can to prevent it in the first place you will reduce the chance of developing it. The life adjustments you make now can keep you from getting high blood pressure at a later stage.

As well as food and daily exercise adjustments, maintaining stress levels from growing too high for lasting periods of time can also help. Stress is one of the major creators of hypertension and individuals have jobs that are nerve-wracking and while you can't just quit your line of work you can find outlets for the strain you chance upon. Listening to music that calms you is a means of alleviating tension as this is able slow down your pulse rate and reduce blood pressure simultaneously.

Meditation is another way of relieving strain but there is also yoga, which is quoted by experts as being a great means to cut down on stress. Breathing exercises are also advocated for people who suffer very trying lives. With hypertension prevention, the more modes you can think of to lower your blood pressure the better, and the prospect that you will wind up being diagnosed with hypertension later in your life is drastically lessened.

Hypertension Drug Side Effects

Stroke! Heart Attack! Huh? This is what I caught while only kind of paying attention to an commercial the other night. I hit rewind to see what they were talking about. You guessed it. Potential side effects of hypertension drugs.

I regularly receive emails from people who are also desperate to avoid these side effects and others due to the medication.

Many people have provided specific names of the medications they have been prescribed which led to additional research on side effects. While this is not new information, I was rather surprised again to review just how serious the side effects can be.

140 over 90 is Typically Considered High Blood Pressure.

The problem is that it can lead to heart disease, heart attacks, strokes and weakened arteries. Other organs can also be affected such as the eyes, kidneys and brain.

High blood pressure can also lead to insomnia, erectile dysfunction and sight loss. Since the symptoms can be very subtle or even non existent, it has earned the name "silent killer."

What are the Symptoms?

Some symptoms though are noticeable by people. Blurred vision, headaches, sweating and nausea are hard to ignore. You need to actually measure your blood pressure to be sure hypertension is present.

One elevated reading does not necessarily indicate chronic high blood pressure. Regular checks are necessary.

Review of Four Types of Side Effects

You do want to be aware of possible side effects if you are prescribed medication. Four types I'll review today are ACE Inhibitors, Beta Blockers, Calcium Channel Blockers and Diuretics.

Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors help blood vessels relax by blocking the production of angiotensin II. Some commonly prescribed ACE inhibitors include: benazepril (Lotensin), captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), lisinopril (Prinivil, Zestril) ,quinapril (Accupril, Mavik) and ramipril (Altace).

Side affects associated with ACE inhibitors are lingering cough, headaches, chest pains and even kidney disease.

Now let's look at Beta Blockers. These drugs reduce nerve signals to the heart and blood vessels which causes the heart to beat slower reducing blood pressure. Commonly prescribed beta blockers include: acebutolol (Sectral), atenolol (Tenormin), carvedilol (Coreg), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), nadolol (Corgard), penbutolol (Levatol), propranolol (Inderal) and timolol (Blocadren).

Dizziness, impotence, memory loss and fatigue can occur with beta blockers.

Calcium Channel Blockers block calcium from entering heart and blood vessel muscle cells which prevents the blood vessels from constricting and lowers blood pressure. Some of the beta blockers are amlodipine (Norvasc), diltiazem (Cardizem, Dilacor XR) felodipine (Plendil), nifedipine (Adalat, Procardia), and verapamil (Calan, Covera, Isoptin, Verelan).

And the side effects of these can include heartburn, difficulty swallowing, sexual dysfunction and even stroke and heart attack. These are problems the drugs are actually supposed to prevent!

And finally diuretics. The body flushes fluid and sodium which helps to lower blood pressure. Some of the common ones are hydrochlorothiazide, furoseminde and chlorthalidone.

Electrolyte imbalances, impotence, breast enlargement in men (gynecomastia), gout, menstrual irregularities, increased blood sugar, blurred vision, and fever.

It's no surprise that people either want to avoid high blood pressure medication or get off the drugs altogether. I do however urge you to exercise caution by reducing your medication slowly and with your doctor's knowledge.

My all natural High Blood Pressure Program works to eliminate the need for the drugs. You're doctor may be hesitant, but most traditional doctors are. You're proof will be in the numbers.

Introduce the program but continue to take your medication. Continue to monitor your blood pressure. As it begins to lower, see your doctor and discuss lowering your medicine. Eventually you can do this until the drugs are no longer needed.

People will oftentimes, write to me and tell me how their lives have been helped by using my programs. Not only physical improvement but also mentally. For me, this is what makes what I do truly enjoyable.

It's refreshing to be able to interact with customers personally.

One question which has been repeatedly asked by my customers is: Can I stop taking hypertension medicine in a natural way - using only this program.

In a sentence, yes, most people can get off hypertension medicine and use only a natural program.

The focus should be to take it slow and always consult your doctor before you attempt to stop taking prescribed medicine.

Begin using my program. Record your blood pressure readings daily. As the blood pressure drops, see your doctor and ask him or her about reducing your prescription.

Don't be alarmed if your doctor isn't as excited about a natural remedy as you are. Many are skeptical of remedies which don't involve medicine. Just keep recording your blood pressure as you go and you will have proof enough, even for your doctor.

Stay on the program and take note of your continued lowered blood pressure. Again, see your doctor about reducing, yet again, your medication.

As you use the program and take less medicine, you should be able to consult with your doctor and remove the medicine for hypertension, altogether.

The first exercise will take you through rhythmical walking. Your brain and emotions will begin to relax and allow you to focus better.

The second exercise allows for finding negative or anxious feelings and get rid of them in a natural, calm way.

In the third exercise, you will be led through a total body relaxation. This simple exercise is extremely effective.

Using these exercises in combination has proven results, in less than even a week! Within one week, over 75 percent of my customers reduced their blood pressure and almost 90 percent were able to reduce their blood pressure within a month.

If I have one vice in my otherwise healthy lifestyle, it's my large cup of great coffee, everyday. Not one for wanting to own "vices," I am curious as to why coffee, in moderation, is considered to be one.

This was highlighted the other day while having breakfast with a friend. She told me how "lucky" I am to be able to have my coffee every day. She said she couldn't drink coffee anymore due to high blood pressure. Her doctor advised her that this could contribute to her high blood pressure.

Watch out? My friend was telling me this quite literally, as she was exhaling cigarette smoke. Did her doctor mention that this behavior is far more than a contributor to high blood pressure.

Did the doctor actually state that more than anything, my friend's overindulgence in food, smoking and sometimes alcohol largely caused her hypertension but she only heard "coffee?" Hard to know but I was curious, why did the doctor even list coffee as a contributor?

As of this post, there have been no studies to support evidence that there is a link between drinking coffee and hypertension.

Some studies have shown that drinking coffee does raise one's blood pressure slightly, but only temporarily. In fact, these same studies have shown that over time, this slight increase in blood pressure is reduced.

These same studies also admit that when drinking coffee on a regular basis, this temporary increase in blood pressure dissipates.

So why even mention coffee and hypertension? What studies have shown is that coffee can often times partner certain unhealthy behaviors - smoking and over eating.

Does this mean that coffee causes hypertension? No - it is not coffee's fault that some people cannot drink a cup of coffee without partnering it with cigarettes and over eating.

So why do we read so many stories of people who gave up drinking coffee and suddenly, there was a marked decrease in blood pressure. These stories tend to focus on what coffee was doing to their high blood pressure, not the real culprits like cigarettes and obesity.

Based on evidence, I do not believe that drinking a cup of coffee, even every day will cause high blood pressure. If I believed that, I wouldn't drink it myself.

If you are suffering from hypertension, I'd like to recommend my High Blood Pressure Program. This is a completely natural remedy and while simple, it has proven, amazing results.

Additionally, I suggest my Weight Loss Breeze Program if you suffer from this condition as well.

With essential hypertension no cause is examined because essential hypertension has no underlying causes. This type of hypertension occurs basically out of nowhere and without being provoked, it just happens. Another name for essential hypertension is primary hypertension. This is because it is seen as its own primary cause.

The Prognosis

Essential hypertension will usually need to be watched throughout the patient's lifetime. There are cases where changes in habits, such as quitting smoking or cutting down on alcohol consumption will lower the patient's blood pressure reading without having to be administered medications. However, most times blood pressure lowering medications will need to be taken. This is not a devastating prognosis as it is common for people with properly treated hypertension to live full and normal lives.

The Overall View

Essential hypertension is a somewhat broad term since sometimes one patient may be helped by a treatment that another patient was oblivious to. Still, the fact every patient doesn't respond to the same treatment doesn't mean these patients are not inflicted with the type of elevated blood pressure that is truly essential, or primary. The only thing that is truly important with high blood pressure is finding out what will control it.

Nonetheless, trial and error along with an experienced doctor's wisdom will always find a medication and/or plan of attack that will control the patient's blood pressure.

As in all cases of hypertension, the proper medication must be taken everyday. Blood pressure medication is constructed in such a way it is only effective when taken daily and may not be useful at all if some daily dosages are skipped.

Another fact about hypertension medication is that it is meant to be taken at the same time of the day each time it is taken. As we have already seen, skipping dosages renders blood pressure medication less effective and now we see, this medication needs to be administered at even intervals. Not following these instructions on dosage and when exactly to take the medication may put the patient at risk of not being able to control the hypertension. Of course, there are many unwanted complications associated with uncontrolled high blood pressure.

Monitor Your Medication's Effect

If you don't feel good, tell your doctor. Maybe your medication will need to be altered in type or dosage. However, sometimes changing from one medication to another, or one dosage to another, needs to be done gradually. Your doctor will know how to proceed with this change. Doing it wrong could cause more problems than just not feeling good.

Essential hypertension is quite common today. It is more often seen in adolescents than it is adults. This is simply because there are far more underlying reasons for an older person to have hypertension than a younger one. So of course, when there are other reasons the hypertension is present it would not be primary or essential hypertension.

Essential hypertension is relatively new to the medical lexicon and so, why people get it is not well understood. Some believe, because it comes on without known causes, it is inherited. Only time will tell us whether or not this theory will hold true.

Lower Blood Pressure Naturally

Here are some easy ways to lower your blood pressure naturally. They include giving up smoking, doing something about being over-weight, and the amount of salt intake and your daily diet. We will start to address the actions to start taking to help you to lower blood pressure naturally.

Where to Start Lowering Blood Pressure

The suggestion is to limit your alcohol consumption to lowering blood pressure. It is said you should consume no more than one 12-ounce beer, one 5-ounce glass of wine or one shot (1.5 ounces) of whiskey. Trying to limit your intake of alcohol is like playing with fire and trying to not get burned. You will lower your blood pressure by eliminating alcohol completely from your diet much faster than just cutting back. It is not hard to live a healthy lifestyle without alcohol what is at stake here is our health and long life so just stop.

Exercise is a Big Plus

Like stopping the alcohol beginning to exercise on a regular basis takes being pro-active. Why not just do it to be healthier, feel healthier, look younger and live longer. Discus beginning an exercise routine with your doctor first as he will want you to begin slowly. Working up to something aerobic on a regular basis is just a lifestyle change. It can be done by putting some though into it and finding something that is fun and fits you.

Eliminate Stress to Drop the Blood Pressure Numbers

People in high stress lifestyles have no idea how much damage they are doing to their bodies until it’s too late. To lower stress you must understand it and take action to eliminate it to help lower the blood pressure numbers. There are many ways to relieve stress and just being aware of it is a major step in decreasing it. But like alcohol and exercise being very pro-active here is required.

A Rampant Cause of High Blood Pressure

A huge cause of the problem in this USA that seems to be accepted as normal and that is the caffeine intake. Caffeine in beverages, coffees, power drinks and many other things do cause a rise in blood pressure so you should consider your intake. Even with normal blood pressure the power drinks and beverages are a danger to your health. Reduce or eliminate consumption these drinks with caffeine. Most have no idea the amounts of this drug that goes into their body over the course of the day.

Normal Blood Pressure Requires Adequate Potassium

Adequate potassium has the effect of lowering blood pressure naturally. The guidelines recommend a daily consumption of 4700 milligrams for a person over the age of four. Potassium is available in supplements but there are a lot of common foods that also provide a lot better sources.

The Causes of Hypertension

The numbers of people every year diagnosed with hypertension goes higher and higher. Hypertension can strike just about anyone, age, gender or race does not matter. The increase in numbers can be related to lifestyles and some are genetic.

What is Hypertensive Heart Disease?

By definition hypertensive heart disease is uncontrolled high blood pressure for long periods of time which affects the heart muscle. This condition will compromise body’s organs; the reason for this is the heart supplies the body with all its blood. Our genetics and family histories of heart disease are the most important risk factors. Today our lifestyle choices are factors that are very significant as well. It is more important to avoiding things like high sodium foods; Giving up the alcohol and quitting smoking are a big plus in avoiding hypertensive heart disease.

Causes of High Blood Pressure

Some dangerous activities a lot of people indulge in today like drinking too much alcohol as well as smoking or abusing drugs, will end up with high blood pressure. Other causes consist of high stress lifestyles, jobs and diets of high risk foods all the time. A sedentary person that gets no exercise could end up with high blood pressure also. Today more than ever it is important to live healthy lifestyle as a way of prevention.

Genetics Won’t Change Lifestyles Can

The family history and genetics affects you and you cannot change it no matter what, the best part you can modify your lifestyle to lower your risk of high blood pressure. With a small commitment on your part to exercise regularly and using a proper diet, you lower the risk. Be proactive, and you can avoid the damage caused by the effects of high blood pressure and even reverse some of the damage already done.

How to Lower Blood Pressure

A very effective way to bring down your risk of high blood pressure is by eating healthy diet. Foods high in fat, saturated trans-fats, high sodium content and high in bad cholesterols should be avoided. Where to start is with plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables and lean meats like chicken and fish are much healthier choices.

High Blood Pressure Has No Cure

However modern medicine has developed new ways to treat high blood pressure, there is still no known cure. High blood pressure can most easily be controlled if you follow your doctor's advice. The right medication to regulate blood pressure levels and get them into normal ranges is only the start.

The Best Time to Deal With High Blood Pressure

The best time to address deal with high blood pressure issues is before it happens, this is when you are young and healthy and can pick or change a lifestyle that is better for lifelong good health.
